Study on Healing – Does just mouthing the words “I Believe to be healed” work?- Part 1

The purpose of this study is to show when people speak words it doesn’t guarantee what they speak will come to pass. The concept of “Think and Grow Rich”, the power of suggestion, or positive mental attitude doesn’t work in the real world. What comes out of our mouth does affect our life, but doesn’t control the outcome of our life. Our goal is to show when God’s words are spoken they do affect our life when dealing with a physical problem. It is not easy dealing mentally with information that is a life or death decision  coming from both the world and the word at the same time!

Abraham believed God and God called Abraham His friend

Art, not thou our God, who did drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gave it to the seed of Abraham thy friend forever? – 2 Chronicles 20:7

But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend. – Isaiah 41:8

And the scripture was fulfilled which said, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God – James 2:23

Jesus was called the son of David and the son of Abraham. Abraham was the first generation of 42 generations that led to the birth of Jesus, God’s son

The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham begat Isaac, and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren; – Matthew 1:1,2

So, all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations – Matthew 1:17

Jesus’s relationship with God

Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning. I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true, and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him. They understood not that he spoke to them of the Father. Then said Jesus unto them, When you have lifted up the Son of man, then shall you know that I am he (the son of God), and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. And he that sent me is with me: the Father has not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him. As he spoke these words, many believed in him. Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you, my disciples, indeed; And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free – John 8:25-32

  • Jesus always listened to God and did what God told him to do
  • Abraham did the same thing, this should give us a hint of what it means to believe God

Jesus’s relationship with God who was his father, and the religious elite’s father, who was the devil

They answered him, we are Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how says thou, You shall be made free? Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abides not in the house forever: but the Son abides ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed. I know that you are Abraham’s seed, but you seek to kill me because my word has no place in you. I speak that which I have seen with my father: and you do that which you have seen with your father. They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus said unto them, if you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham. But now you seek to kill me, a man that has told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. You do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, are not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, you would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do you not understand my speech? even because you cannot hear my word. You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, you believe me not. Which of you convinces me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do you not believe me? He that is of God hears God’s words: you, therefore, hear them not, because you are not of God – John 8:33-47

  • Jesus explained the devil was the father of these Israel’s religious elite leaders, not referring to Israel as a nation

Now the religious elite told Jesus he is possessed of a devil and started bringing up their relationship with Abraham

Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and has a devil? Jesus answered, I have not a devil, but I honor my father, and you do dishonor me. And I seek not my own glory: there is one that seeks and judges. Verily, verily, I say unto you, if a man keeps my saying, he shall never see death. Then said the Jews unto him, now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou say, if a man keeps my saying, he shall never taste of death. Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makes thou thyself?  – John 8:48-52

The religious elite can’t win a debate with truth, so they did what they do best, tried to kill him

Jesus answered, If I honor myself, my honor is nothing: it is my Father that honored me; of whom you say, that he is your God: Yet you have not known him, but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and has thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by – John 8:53-59

Laying the background with Abraham, and his relationship with Jesus and God

  • God called Abraham his friend
  • Abraham believed God
  • Jesus was called the son of David, and the son of Abraham
  • God told Abraham about the coming of Christ, Jesus said he rejoiced to see my day – John 8:56

So far, God makes a statement in his word that Abraham was his friend and that he believed him. To this point, there was no recorded communication between the two. There are no words spoken by Abraham that show how he believed God or why he was God’s friend
