Russia Vs. Ukraine, “Preparing for the Battle, David vs. the Giant”#5

Disclaimer, I realized you can’t bold or post in color; today, after 30 posts, stupid me! Some sections that were in color are missing. I will repost #5 correctly, and as I have time will repost the series from the beginning. If you want to read them, They will have a “corrected” in the title. Thank you all for reading them to date, and take heart; they have to get even better!

Preparing for the Battle

Nobody gave David a chance against the giant; both the Israeli and Philistine armies were probably laughing among themselves. Today Ukraine is David with a slingshot and five stones fighting against the giant. Russia with all their weapons of mass destruction, including chemical and nuclear.

And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David, and the man that bares the shield went before him. And when the Philistine looked about and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, ruddy, and fair countenance. And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou come to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. And the Philistine said to David, come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air and the beasts of the field – 1 Samuel 17:41-44.

The odds were not in David’s favor. On top of that, the giant told him, “am I a dog,” is this the best Israel could send to fight me?

You are a kid; you look good but are still just a kid

He cursed David by his gods(plural)

Told David he would kill him

And feed his carcass to the birds and wild beasts

Then said David to the Philistine, thou come to me with a sword, a spear, and a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee into my hand, and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee, and I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the world may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saved not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands – 1 Samuel 17:45-47

David responded to the giant’s threat; one would think he would retreat in fear. But, God’s right-hand man told him, we don’t withdraw; tell him what you will do to him. David then said to the giant.

You come at me with a sword, spear, and a shield; I come in the name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of my army who you defiled(belittled and made fun of)

God (singular, not plural) will deliver you into my hands

I will kill you

Cut off your head

And I will give your carcass to the fowls of the air and beasts of the ground

Then all the earth would know there is a God in Israel; yours is not the right one!

Both sides made their cases to the armies on both sides, who could hear this confrontation between David and the giant like smack talk before a WWE wrestling match. Probably there were betting on who would win. Maybe the giant’s winning odds were 1/10000, and David’s losing odds were 10000/1.

Back to the allegory, what is needed in the Russa Vs. Ukraine war is for God to get involved by delivering the message on what to do to end the war. He can do this in three ways after Pentecost, which period we live in today. Believers then need to believe what they were told and act upon it. People tell me why isn’t it happening in Ukraine; why are civilians and children dying? My answer is just because we don’t see it doesn’t make it false. If it is in God’s word and is written to us to do and it doesn’t happen, we don’t listen or believe to act on what we hear from God. The three ways that God communicates with believers today are:

God’s right-hand man can get involved in any situation to deliver the message or deliver the knockout blow

He blinded Paul for killing believers – Acts 9:1-5

Jesus appeared directly to Ananias in a vision. Ananias obeyed what God’s right-hand man told him to do. Interesting, Ananias knew it was him and carried on a conversation with him! – Acts 9:10-16

God talks directly to believers in any way he wants to. In 1 Corinthians 12:1-11, God outlines six ways he communicates with believers

Words of wisdom

words of knowledge

Faith, the spiritual ability to believe in carrying out the impossible

Gifts of healing

working of miracles

Discerning of spirits

An example after the day of Pentecost is believers who received information from God and told Paul not to go to Jerusalem.

And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem – Acts 21:4

Angels can also get involved in delivering the message to believers and deliver the knockout blow. The only difference is they have to be told to by God or maybe God’s right-hand man.  Please read the records below; there is no argument that angels can be involved in fighting for God’s people!

But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said –Acts 5:19

And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert – Acts 8:26

He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming unto him, and saying unto him, Cornelius – Acts 10:3

And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually – Acts 10:7

And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for thee into his house and to hear words of thee – Acts 10:22

And he showed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter – Acts 11:13

And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands – Acts 12:7-11

And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost – Acts 12:23

For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve – Acts 27:23

Next and finally, the Actual Battle
