Israel is going to start hand-to-hand combat in Gaza against Hamas. God’s Right-Hand Man gave the tactics for victory when he sent out the twelve and later the seventy into the cities around Galilee. We understand it is not the same, but we can learn from the greatest military leader of our times, God’s Right-Hand Man(Eph 1:19-23) – Matthew 10:1-8(Mark 6:7-13, Luke 9:1-6,10:1-20)
The planning Stage
And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease – Mt 10:1, Mk 6:7, Lk 9:1
First, you have to have God’s power to defeat the enemy; the question is, does the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have this same power that the disciples had? In the gospels, Jesus gave this power to his disciples. After the day of Pentecost, God gave this same power to all born-again believers, including IDF soldiers who are now born-again.
Using God’s Spiritual Power(1 Cor 12:1-11) is the same for both, except the IDF deals with life or death situations at every turn.
Lk 9:1 – Not only do they have this spiritual power, but they have the authority to use it.
These twelve Jesus sent forth and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter you not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel – Mt 10:5, 6, Mk 6:7 (Adds they went forth two by two) – Lk 10:1
Lk 10:1 – Adds that leadership may or may not visit them on the battlefield
And as you go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely you have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat – Mt 10:7-10, Mk 6:10,11, Lk 10:9
They were to speak about the Kingdom of God nears (still future) – Mt 10:7(Lk 9:2, 10:9), Mk 6:12(repentance), Lk 9:6 (the gospel)
And into whatsoever city or town you shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till you go thence – Mt 10:11
He told them which cities and houses to enter and which not to enter. If the Israeli Defense Forces had this same information, they would be kept safe and know the ones who housed their enemy beforehand.
And when you come into an house, salute(greet, wish well) it. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet(a testimony against them-Mk 6:11, Lk 9:5). Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city(Chorazin and Bethsaida) – Mt 10:12-15, Mk 6:10,11, Lk 9:4,5, 10:5,6, 10:10-12
Woe unto thee, Chorazin(a town in Galilee)! Woe unto thee, Bethsaida(small fishing village on the west shore of Lake Gennesaret, home of Andrew, Peter, Philip, and John in Palestine), For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre (a Phoenician city on the Mediterranean in Palestine) and Sidon (city of Phoenicia, on the east coast of the Mediterranean Sea in Palestine), which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell – Lk 10:13-15
Take note of the detail God’s Right-Hand Man laid out to his disciples; nothing was missed.
He sent them to Galilee and Palestine.
He told them what to say and do. What supplies not to bring into the houses, including their food supply(Lk 10:7,8 adds details about the food supply)
What they did need to bring was a staff and sandals(not shoes) – Mk 6:8,9
How they were to interact with the ordinary people who weren’t Hamas
It is interesting to note that failure is not an option; talk about a positive mental attitude!
In Lk 10:16, he adds that they hated him. Today, Hamas and their friends want to eradicate Israel from the earth.
God’s Right-Hand Man compares Judeans who reject the Kingdom of His Father to Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment – Mt 10:15, Mk 6:11, Lk 9:4,5, 10:5,6, 10:10-12
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be you therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves – Mt 10:16, Lk 10:3( sent forth as lambs among wolves)
Now, God’s Right-Hand Man deals with the mental part of the plan. You are sheep (tamed animals) among wolves(cruel and destructive men)
To defeat the wolves, you must be wise as serpents(apply knowledge in a good sense, cunningly wise) and harmless as doves (mentally peaceful and free from evil intents)
The results
And they went out and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them – Mk 6:12, 13
And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere – Lk 9:6
They won their battle against sickness, disease, and evil devil spirits.
And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents (malicious people that are sly and worldly wise) and scorpions (poisonous people), and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven – Lk 10:17-20
Devils are subject unto the name of God’s Right-Hand Man, Jesus Christ. There is only one way to win this battle against evil: by using this name to defeat the enemy.
It also includes defeating all the power of these malicious, poisonous, evil people.
If the power of his name is used correctly, there will be no harm or casualties to God’s people.

The disciples won their battle against sickness, disease, and evil devil spirits. Israel’s IDF forces can be just as successful in defeating Hamas or any other terrorist group in that part of the world
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand – Eph 6:10-13
