And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine – 1 Samuel 17:47
David, the underdog, was coached up by God’s right-hand man, who devised the game plan.
He decided not to let the giant prepare for the battle
Had David make a surprise attack to catch him by surprise
And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. So, David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him – 1 Samuel 17:49, 50
As David was running toward the giant, he took “one” smooth stone out of his bag, shot it with his slingshot, and hit the giant. The stone was smooth and didn’t get caught up on the surface of his face. God’s right-hand man told David about the smooth stone and hit him in the forehead, and the force of it would sink into his head and kill him. David couldn’t have played out the game plan any better because it worked, the giant fell on his face dead!
But there was no sword in the hand of David. Therefore, David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled – 1 Samuel 17:51
At this point, David had succeeded in killing the giant, but he hadn’t ended the war. God’s right-hand man related to David about how to end it
Go jump on the giant’s dead body
Take the giant’s sword and cut off the giant’s head
Show the head to the enemy; when they see their champion dead, they will flee back to Russia
David again carries out the game plan, and they flee; end of the war!
