Russia Vs. Ukraine, “The Background of the Battle” #3(Part 2)

The Background of the Battle

Every day we prepare ourselves mentally and physically to deal with things that pop up during the day. But it’s hard to imagine what is going on in Ukraine. First, they wake up dealing with maybe not having food, water, or life necessities. Then they go outside and see their neighbor lying on the street dead or walking by a mass grave with black body bags!   

 

You may be thinking about how God’s right-hand man can involve himself in a historical record and get involved with Russia Vs. Ukraine war. Keep in mind it is an allegory; a good definition is (source: https://literaryterms.net › allegory).

 

An allegory is a story within a story. It has a “surface story” and another story hidden underneath. For example, “the surface story might be about two neighbors throwing rocks at each other’s homes, but the hidden story would be about a war between countries.  
 
Jesus Christ, as God’s right-hand man, blinded Paul, who was killing believers (Acts 9:1-19- which I wrote earlier). That period is the same we live in today, and if he did it to Paul, he could do it to Russia! As the allegory unfolds, he gets involved from behind the scene, like a director of a movie. When people do extraordinary things in the spiritual realm, it’s a good chance someone is working behind the scenes.
 

The word “prepare” in the gospels means “Prepare you the way of the Lord, make his paths straight” – Matthew 3:3

 

One definition of preparing is: “To make every effort we take to make a positive impact on those around us. Seeking justice, making peace; we are causing the will of God to be realized right now,” which I think is right on! 

 

God’s Spirit started to prepare him for the battle, destroy the enemy and get the enemy to go home. If there were a David today, Russia would have already gone home. Below is how David prepared himself with the help of God’s right-hand man

 

Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehemjudah, whose name was Jesse; and he had eight sons: and the man went among men for an older man in the days of Saul. And the three eldest sons of Jesse went and followed Saul to the battle: and the names of his three sons that went to the battle were Eliab the firstborn, and next unto him Abinadab, and the third Shammah. And David was the youngest: and the three eldest followed Saul. But David went and returned from Saul to feed his father’s sheep at Bethlehem. And the Philistine drew near morning and evening and presented himself forty days – I Samuel 17:12-16.

 

Now Saul, and all the men of Israel, were in the valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines. And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle. Israel and the Philistines had put the battle in array, army against army. And David left his carriage in the hand of the keeper of the carriage, and ran into the army, and came and saluted his brethren – 1 Samuel 17:19-22

 

Both armies were strategically arranging their fighters and weapons for the battle. Jesse, David’s father, asked him to bring food for the soldiers, find his brothers, and see how they did. Interestingly, David wasn’t asked to fight the Philistines because he was the youngest son of Jesse, who had eight sons, but his three oldest brothers went to fight. The battle had begun, but nobody wanted to fight Goliath.

 

And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them. And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him and were sore afraid. And the men of Israel said, have you seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who kills him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israel –1 Samuel 17:23-25

As David talked to his brothers, Goliath appeared and again went through his rant about someone fighting him. This time David heard him speak as the whole army of Israel was running away from the giant. 

You really can’t make this stuff up! If you could trust Saul to keep his word, I have an iceberg to sell you. The offer was he would give you riches, his daughter, and you could live in his house rent-free. At this point, David didn’t know about Saul’s offer to anyone who would kill the giant. This is important because David wasn’t motivated by the request Saul made; next, what inspired David to destroy the enemies of the living God!
